Shannon Bennett and her two best friends Erin Woods and Colleen Cox, are all divorced and turning forty years old within the next six months. With Suzanne first in September, Erin on Halloween and Colleen in November.
Erin convincing Shannon to attend a men’s softball game with her one evening so she could get better acquainted with Ron Davis, a car salesman and one of the players. As they walked up to the field, a ball came over the fence and dropped right in front of Shannon, with a really nice looking guy, Chris Cooper, yelling “throw me the ball.”
With her inexperience, never having thrown a softball before in her life, Shannon threw the ball sideways. Not only shocking the handsome softball player and everyone else watching and laughing; while Shannon felt humiliated.
And that was the fantastic beginning of the on again, off again, no way in hell relationship between Shannon and Chris until they were finally able to figure out how to deal with their divorces and what they wanted and needed in their lives. Shannon and Chris deeply wanting each other as part of their life but were having difficulty in reaching out to each other. Chris’ personal issue due to living with an ex-wife who was a full blown nut case; and Shannon’s personal issue due to her ex-husband wanting to be an undercover agent.
Their complex relationship compounded by trying to figure out the how and why their two children had immediately assumed a brother-sister relationship.
